The RTO series acts as a dedicated ZigBee router, relaying data between sensors and the gateway across distances that would otherwise be out of range. By strategically placing RTO units between sensor clusters and the gateway, you can extend network coverage across large warehouses, multi-building campuses, and sites with thick walls or metal structures that attenuate wireless signals. Each RTO effectively bridges the gap, ensuring data from every sensor reaches the gateway reliably.

Self-Healing Mesh

Automatic Rerouting for Maximum Uptime

The ZigBee mesh network is inherently self-healing. If an RTO unit or any other mains-powered device in the network goes offline, neighbouring nodes automatically discover alternative routes to the gateway. This means your sensor data continues to flow even during maintenance, power outages at individual nodes, or unexpected equipment failures. The network continuously optimises its routing tables to find the most efficient paths, adapting in real time to changing conditions.

Simple Deployment

DIN-Rail Mountable, Mains Powered

The RTO mounts directly onto standard 35mm DIN rails in any distribution board or electrical panel, keeping the installation tidy and professional. Mains powered operation ensures the unit is always on and always routing, with no batteries to replace or recharge. The compact form factor takes up minimal DIN-rail space, making it easy to add range extension wherever there is an available electrical panel along the path between sensors and the gateway.

Zero Configuration

Plug In and Extend

The RTO requires no software configuration. Once powered on, it automatically joins the EpiSensor ZigBee network and begins routing traffic for neighbouring devices. The gateway detects the new router and the mesh topology updates itself without any manual intervention. This makes it straightforward to scale your network incrementally as your deployment grows, adding coverage exactly where it is needed without reconfiguring existing devices.

Network Visibility

Monitor Mesh Health from the Gateway

Each RTO reports its status and link quality metrics back to the gateway, giving you visibility into the health of your wireless network. Monitor signal strength, neighbour tables, and routing paths to identify potential coverage gaps before they affect data delivery. This diagnostic data helps you plan the optimal placement of additional routers and verify that your network is performing as expected after deployment.
